Building Permits
Building permits are issued to the following:
- Licensed contractors with current CSL & HIC;
- Design professionals licensed in the State of Massachusetts;
- Homeowners of owner-occupied one and two-family dwellings.
Application Requirements
- A completed online application indicating cost of project including materials and labor signed by owner and applicant; https://marbleheadma.viewpointcloud.com.
- Proof of workman’s compensation insurance (Acord Form) when applicant has employees;
- Contract signed by owner when work is performed by an HIC registered contractor;
- In some cases applicant must include permitting from the Conservation Commission, Planning Board, Old and Historic Commission and or Zoning Board of appeals;
- Call (781) 631-2220 to schedule an appointment with the Building Department located at the Mary Alley Municipal Building, 7 Widger Road, Marblehead, MA.
Building Project Permit Fees
Effective October 5, 2017
The amount of any Building Permit Fee will be $15.00 per $1,000 of estimated project cost to be paid by the applicant, general contractor, or homeowner.
The minimum fee for each permit is $30.00.
*Please Note: Failure to obtain a required permit prior to commencement of work will result in a fee three times the applicable fee.
