Sea Chanteys with Gary Foreman
Address
Enjoy a night of folk songs of the sea in the garden at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion as we host Gary Foreman! Sea chanteys have long been enjoyed by the masses, but what exactly was their role in everyday life aboard a seafaring voyage? This program will be entertaining and educational as it explores the history and role of work songs of the sea.
Gary Foreman served in the Navy for 20 years, and then spent 23 years interpreting the history of “ Old Ironsides” at the USS Constitution Museum. While History was his vocation, music was his love. He has performed with the Sea Revels, Summer Revels (and more), and most recently with Three Sheets to the Wind, the sea shanty group based out of Gloucester. With his nautical/maritime background, a love of history and story-telling through music, Gary’s passion is to share the spirit of travel and adventure and inspire others to pursue their own adventures, find their voices, and sing out loud! Fees Charged: $15 for future members, $10 for Marblehead Museum members.
