Business Certificate

Application

Business Certificates are required for businesses that are not incorporated, as well as for individuals doing business under a name different than his/her personal name(s), to conduct any business in Massachusetts, as required by state law. (To incorporate, one goes through a process at the state level.) The Town Clerk's Office will, with proper identification, provide a Business Certificate to an applicant. The certificate is valid for four years.

Please Note: A Business Certificate does not imply that the applicant(s) has (have) met all license, permits, and other permissions required by the Town of Marblehead’s Building Department or Board of Health for legal operation of this business at the stated location.

Fee: $40.00.

Amendments

The Town Clerk's office will, with proper identification, amend certain information on a business certificate.

Fee: $15.00.
