Transportation for Seniors and the Disabled

The Marblehead Council on Aging provides transportation, by reservation, for Marblehead residents age 60 or more and for those who are under 60 and disabled. Rides are provided from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Reservations for transportation must be made at least 2 business days in advance.  If we are unable to accommodate your request due to a full schedule, we will do our best to give you information regarding alternatives.

To Schedule a ride or cancel a reservation call 781 639-3430.

COA vans are used for rides to medical appointments, Senior Center activities, shopping, beauty salon appointments, banking, social activities and volunteer positions.

Regularly scheduled rides are listed on the Transportation Schedule. Additional requests will be accommodated on a priority basis. COA staff will do their best to meet your needs, however, there may be times when we are unable to schedule your ride due to heavy volume, vehicle problems or driver training.

Our vans are wheelchair lift equipped. Riders must be able to get to and from the vans on their own or with their own escort. Riders must also be able to tend to their own needs or they must have an escort accompany them.

The suggested donation is $1 for each one way ride in town and $3 for each one way ride out of town. The COA provides out of town transportation for regularly scheduled trips to the mall and for medical appointments only.

Funding for transportation is provided by the Town of Marblehead, donations from the Marblehead Female Humane Society, Friends of the COA and participant donations.
