How to Deal with Summer's Extreme Heat
Summer is here and so is the heat. Elderly people are more prone to heat stress than younger people. The Centers for Disease Control has published a Fact Sheet to help the elderly deal with the extreme heat.

Mission
The mission of the Marblehead Council on Aging is to enhance the quality of life for seniors and to promote respect and good will in the community by informing, educating and advocating for seniors and those who care for them and to provide services and activities which promote healthy, successful and enjoyable living.

The Council on Aging (COA), established in 1969, is a department of the municipal government of Marblehead, authorized under Chapter 40 Section 8B of the Massachusetts General Laws.

The council's nine members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen, as is the Executive Director. The COA is responsible for the Senior Center located in the Marblehead Community Center, 10 Humphrey Street. View directions to the Senior Center.

Board meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 3:15 p.m. at the Center.

The Council on Aging (COA) serves as a source for all information concerning every elderly service on a local, state and federal level. Its offices, activities and programs are located in the Marblehead Community Center, 10 Humphrey Street.

Recreational and educational activities at the center are listed in The Old Marblehead Cod, a free monthly newspaper available throughout town and at the Community Center.

Exercise, arts, wellness and educational activities and programs are held daily at the center and trips (day trips and overnights) are scheduled monthly.

The COA provides home-delivered meals to eligible seniors Monday through Friday.

Lunch is served at the Center Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 

Transportation is available Monday through Friday in wheelchair-lift equipped vans.
