The Highway Department (Department of Public Works) is responsible for the maintenance of public streets and sidewalks and for the maintenance of all town vehicles.
The department is also responsible for all public street name signs and traffic regulatory signs; street markings such as crosswalks, center lines and parking boxes; and for the general maintenance of town-owned walls and fences.
Permits authorizing the cutting of any public street or sidewalk must be authorized by the Highway Department prior to making any cuts. Permits are issued by the Highway Department between April 1st - November 30th. See links below for information, applications, and rules and regulations.
