Engineering Department Permits 

Responsibilities

• Provides estimates, plans and descriptions for street layouts and street line locations.
• Reviews proposals under subdivision control and/or site plan review as submitted to the Planning Board.
• Provides engineering design and consultation to other Town departments.
• Maintains the Geographic Information System (GIS) for the Town.

Conservation
The engineer acts as the Conservation Agent for the Town, reviewing submittals to the Conservation Commission under the Wetlands Protection Act and the Marblehead Wetlands Protection By-law.

Flood Insurance
The Engineering Department provides flood insurance rate maps (FIRM) and other relevant information, available at the Engineer's office, for those considering the purchase of flood insurance.

Residents may obtain from the Engineering Department

• surveying information
• assessor maps
• zoning maps
• street maps
• maps of abutters to property that will be subject to Zoning Board of Appeals hearings
