Repairs Scheduled for Transfer Station Compactor
The trash compactor at the Transfer Station will be undergoing repairs and maintenance that necesitates the closure of the compactor on the following dates:
Thursday, May 8
Tuesday, May 13
Wednesday, May 14
Thursday, May 15
Household wastes will not be accepted on these dates. All other areas of operation will be open as usual.
Street Resurfacing to Affect Traffic in Peach Highlands Area
In preparation for street resurfacing the Department of Public Works will commence road milling operations on May 12, 2008. The streets involved are: Peach Highlands, Stony Brook Rd., Cheever Ave., Calthrop Ave., Blueberry Rd. and Wheeler Place. Parking restrictions will be posted on the affected streets. Some traffic delays may be possible.
Program Offered on New Child Car Safety Seat Regulations
Lt. Dave Millett of the Marblehead Police Department will offer an informational night and slide show on Tuesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. to explain the new Child Car Safety Seat laws that went into effect May 1. The new law requires children up to 8 years old and shorter than 4 ft. 9 inches in height to be in a booster seat while riding in cars.
Absentee Ballots Now Available for May 12 Town Election
Absentee ballots for the May 12 Town Election are now available at the Town Clerk's office at Abbot Hall. Registered voters can vote absentee until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008.
On-Line Open Space & Recreation Survey
The Marblehead Open Space Committee is conducting a survey
in order to determine the needs and concerns of the citizens of Marblehead. The information gathered from this survey will be used to update the committee's Open Space & Recreation Plan. This plan is required to qualify for state and federal programs for acquisition and expansion projects. Please complete this on-line survey and click the submit button to have your opinions included.
Causeway Seawall Traffic Control Plan
Work on the replacement of the Causeway seawall began in the fall is expected to be completed by July 2008. Work began on the mainland (West) side of the Causeway and will progress towards the Neck. A traffic control plan has been developed to assure access to and from Marblehead Neck.
2008 Transfer Station and Beach Stickers Now Available
Facility Stickers for 2008 for use of the Transfer Station and resident parking at Devereux Beach are now available at the Transfer Station and at the Treasurer/Collectors Office. The 2007 Facility Sticker expired on December 31, 2007.
