Hawthorn Pond Conservation Area

9.8 acre property containing a pond, marshes and a stream.  The watercourse eventually flows into Wyman Cove in Salem Harbor.  Four interconnected trails cross the area which is accessed directly from the former railroad right-of way known as "The Path".  You can start walking on "The Path" at the Tower School on West Shore Drive and walk east to get to the Hawthorn Pond and wetlands.  The area is also accessible from the end of Hawthorn Road.

Reynolds Woods

6.5 acres managed by the School Department, who agreed in 1987 to allow the Conservation Commission to build and maintain trails on the property.  More than 50% of the land is wetland.  Access from Lime Street through the Reynolds Playground.

Robinson Farm

The newest addition to Marblehead's conservation lands, the Robinson Farm, was purchased by the Town in 2005.  For almost 200 years this 3.5 acre site was a working dairy farm.  There are no longer any buildings standing but some of the old stone foundation walls from barns are still in place.  The entrance to the Robinson Farm, which is open for passive public enjoyment, is from the end of Abbot Street.  Parking is available for a few cars.

Steer Swamp

43.5 acre area containing wetlands, ponds, a brook, forest, shrub areas and some cleared areas.  Walking paths abound.  Access from Blueberry Road, Stoneybrook Road, Norman Street, Barry Road, and Beacon Street.

Turner Woods

Originally part of a larger property gifted to Marblehead, this 1.1 acre plot is imbedded in a residential area and across Turner Road from the Coffin School, off Litchman Terrace.  Though small, it is frequented by a variety of birds and is being replanted with native tree and shrub seedlings.  A looping path offers visitors a shaded, open and quiet spot to enjoy nature.

Ware Pond

The largest pond in town, covering 3.8 acres contained on 8.5 acres of Conservation Land.  A boardwalk was constructed in 2005.  The pond is accessible from Marion Road, Warren Road, or by walking "The Path" on your right coming from Rockaway or on your left from Seaview.  Paths circle the pond.

Wye Pond

A one acre shallow pond managed by the Conservation Commission.  It is accessible only from "'The Path" from Village Plaza, Maverick Street, or West Shore Drive.

Wyman Woods

33.5 acres containing wetlands, mature forest and beautiful views of Salem Harbor crossed by many trails.  The land is accessible by taking "The Path" at West Shore Drive toward Salem Harbor or from Lafayette Street near Salem Harbor.
